So The CrossFit 2018 Open Has Taught You That You Suck

Okay you’re frustrated. I get it. And you can do some of the RX stuff, but the scaled versions are either too hard (still working on your first pull-up) or too easy (really, bear crawls?).

Now is the time when you need to ask yourself your why. Why is it that competing is so important to you? Sure- Friday Night Lights is fun.

And there’s no feeling like a PR.

But there’s also no reason to beat yourself up over it.

If you’re like most of us, one of the main draws of CrossFit was probably that you could realize these awesome things you could do with these other like minded people. And that felt amazing. But factor in the pressure to stack up next to the person beside of you (they’re HOW old?!) and that inspiration can quickly turn into defeat.

Relax.

Being able to perform athletically is one thing but does it really make you a better person? No. It just means that you are good at CrossFit.

I understand- you want to do WODs RX and you want to be good. So then invest the time. But if you have never done a handstand push-up in your life then now isn’t the time to get a score of 21. I mean that’s not even a good workout. That’s a warm-up.

Check your ego (which by the way, was one of the main components of CrossFit back in the day), be realistic and talk to your coach about creating a plan to help you achieve your goals.
